Asynchronous development, whereby a child appears to be ‘wise beyond their years’ but in many ways is still very immature, has been described as the defining characteristic of high learning potential children. This advice sheet explores the barriers relating to Asynchronous Development in high learning potential children and provides strategies and clear guidance on how to support children who are developing asynchronously.
