What is the High Learning Potential Assessment Lite?

The High Learning Potential Assessment Lite is a 2 hour online assessment with a qualified assessor, for children aged 7-17. The aim is for parents to better understand their child, thereby helping them to meet his or her educational, social and emotional needs.

The High Learning Potential Assessment Lite uses:

Background information from the parents and (optionally) the school, along with the following norm-referenced tests that assess:

  • Cognitive ability or intelligence using a brief IQ test
  • Current academic achievement in reading and mathematics
  • Verbal processing speed
  • A sensory processing differences screener

Who is the High Learning Potential Assessment Lite for?

This assessment is suitable for children aged 7 to 17 years who can work independently remotely.

Benefits of the High Learning Potential Assessment Lite ?

  • Provides a detailed understanding of a child’s cognitive abilities and achievement levels
  • Identifies a unique profile of strengths and areas still developing
  • Parents receive brief verbal feedback shortly after the assessment
  • Offers one-sentence key actions points for supporting the child at home and guidance for school (please note that there is no optional school report, but a school call is available.)
  • Includes a follow-up consultation with the assessor
  • Additional support is available for free through the Information and Advice Service for eligible Potential Plus UK members or pay-as-you-go calls with the assessor.

Why undertake the High Learning Potential Assessment Lite?

While the High Learning Potential Assessment benefits all children, Potential Plus UK recommends an assessment in certain situations:

  • To address early, rapid intellectual development needing extra challenge
  • To understand differences in school and home performance
  • To identify significant strengths and areas needing support
  • To address behavioural issues linked to boredom or lack of stimulation
  • To manage specific issues like reluctance to write, or peer integration problems.

How much does the High Learning Assessment of Potential Lite cost?

  • Family Plus Members: £395 including VAT
  • Family Essential, Associate Family Members or Non-members: £515 including VAT (pro rata upgrades from Family Essential to Family Plus memberships are available. Associate members and non-members are recommended to consider taking out Family Plus Membership)
  • Eligible Family Plus members who would struggle to meet the cost of an assessment can apply to the Scholarship Fund for assistance.

How long does the High Learning Potential Assessment Lite take?

The assessment takes approximately 2 hours and typically does not include a break

This assessment takes place online.
