Important announcement about the future of Potential Plus UK

The Trustees of Potential Plus UK (operating name of the National Association for Gifted Children) have begun a formal review of the charity’s future, including the potential cessation of operational services and possible closure due to ongoing financial pressures.

After almost 60 years of supporting children and young people with high potential, the charity has experienced a sustained decline in funding in recent years alongside increased running costs.

Following a careful review, the Trustees believe that continuing to exist and operate the services they know the community finds essential may no longer be financially viable. As a result, a formal consultation process for redundancy has begun with all staff. This is heart breaking news, given the unique level of skills and expertise amongst our staff, specialists in gifted education that you simply would not find anywhere else in the UK.

We are aware that closing operations will mean that many families will no longer be able to access the services they need. We are the only charity in the UK dedicated to supporting and championing young people with high learning potential. We have a depth of knowledge and expertise that is respected internationally, and we will do all we can to ensure that this legacy is not lost but made available through our partner organisations in the future.

The Trustees express their gratitude to the families, members, partners and supporters who have contributed to the charity’s work over nearly six decades. We continue to explore every avenue to keep the charity alive. If you know of any funding that would be readily and immediately accessible to us, please do get in touch by emailing amazing.children@potentialplusuk.org.
