Professional Development Workshops
Potential Plus UK’s Professional Development workshops are designed to enable and empower teachers in all school phases to support high potential learners.
These interactive Professional Development Workshops are 1 hour long and will be delivered remotely via Zoom. Numbers are limited to 20 participants. You will be sent a meeting ID and password to your registered email address at least one hour before the session is due to start. If you have not received a link at that stage, please email amazing.children@potentialplusuk.org

Problem-Solving for Challenge – CPD for Teachers

Session Outline
This professional development workshop will empower teachers in all school phases to use problem-solving in the classroom or online to challenge learners. It covers how problem-solving develops in children, what skills problem-solving develops, using problem-solving in the curriculum, what complex problems are and the problem solving process.
This interactive workshop will be delivered remotely via Zoom. Numbers are limited to 20 participants.
The facilitator for this session is Rebecca Howell. Rebecca is Senior Education Consultant at Potential Plus UK. She leads various aspects of the organisation, including support for schools and has oversight of both the assessment and the advice service. With a background in educational leadership, she is passionate about developing new services to support members and has 3 children with HLP/DME.

Session Outline
This professional development workshop will empower teachers in all school phases to understand and promote metacognition skills in the classroom or online, especially in the light of the changes in learning due to Covid-19. It will cover how teachers can engage learners to approach tasks, use appropriate skills and strategies to solve problems, monitor their comprehension and evaluate their progress.

Session Outline
Session 1: DME Learners and Identification: Wednesday 14th April at 4pm – 5.15pm
In this session, participants will learn about the definition and characteristics of young people with dual or multiple exceptionality, including how to identify young people with DME.
Session 2: Understanding the Framework for Supporting DME Learners: Wednesday 21st April at 4pm – 5.15pm
In this session, participants will learn about the framework that can be used to support the needs of DME learners to underpin their wellbeing and enable them to realise their potential.
Session 3: Creating Support Plans for DME Learners: Wednesday April 28th at 4pm – 5.15pm
In this session, participants will learn how to analyse the needs of individual DME learners and create a support plan based on identified needs using the framework covered in the previous session.

£300 + VAT per Session
All CPD sessions are available for whole school delivery via Zoom at
£300 + VAT per session (max 20 participants) and can be adapted to meet the needs of the school, including bringing together several sessions on one day.
