Research Intern

Do you have a passion for research? Is there an area related to education, parenting or children with high learning potential you would like to know more about? Why not apply for a research internship?

There are two positions on offer; a summer research internship and a gap year internship.

Both of them will be customised around your skills and the time you have available and could involve both primary and secondary research. Current examples of research work we would like to do include:

  • An evaluation of parental engagement with schools
  • Comparisons of results of the Olympiads across different countries
  • An evaluation of children with high learning potential on free school meals

Helpline Interns

Are you interested in helping us provide practical information and advice to parents about their child with high learning potential? Would you like to help develop a service which reaches more than 4000 people a year? Why not apply for a Helpline Internship?

We will customise the opportunity around your interests and the time you have available. Our current areas of greatest need include:

  • Taking calls on the information line
  • Writing advice sheets for parents
  • Answering email queries
  • Providing materials for the parents area of the website

In return for your involvement with us, we will provide you with the training you need to help us offer a first class service to parents and carers and the practical experience to put on your cv.

Fundraising Interns

Do you like the idea of fundraising for charity? Have you had experience of fundraising at university or home and love it? Would you like to go into this area of work in the future but want to try it out? Why not apply for a Fundraising Internship?

We cover most aspects of fundraising in Potential Plus UK from individual giving to company donations, Trusts and local fundraising. It’s not the easiest role in the world but when you receive those much-needed funds for an organisation it can be the best role in the world!

We will customise the opportunity around your interests and the time you have available. Our current areas of greatest need include:

  • setting up a fundraising database
  • relaunching our company fundraising strategy
  • legacy fundraising
  • launching a fantastic integrated fundraising campaign (including social media!)

In return for your involvement, we will provide you with the training you need and real challenges to see how successful you can be!

Events and Marketing Internship

Are you studying events and marketing at college or university? Is this an area you would like to go into or try? Do you enjoy people, selling or running events? Why not apply for a Marketing and Events Internship?

We will customise the opportunity around your interests and the time you have available. Our current areas of greatest need include:

  • setting up an accreditation scheme for providers
  • helping to run our termly events
  • running a marketing campaign aimed at professionals
  • setting up and running a strategy to get people to advertise in our publications or on our website
  • producing leaflets on all our services

  • is studying marketing or events management and would like a job in this area

Children's Support Internships

Are you interested in teaching as a profession or working in another child-related role? Do you have the vision and understanding of what children with high learning potential want and need? Do you want to help support children with high learning potential and give something back to the community? A Children’s Support Internship may be for you!

We will customise the opportunity around your interests and the time you have available. Our current areas of greatest need include:

  • producing activity packs in different subjects and with children of all ages
  • setting up and coordinating a wiki full of children’s activities
  • making links with other organisations with whom we can work in partnership
  • writing advice sheets for children on a variety of different subjects
  • running activities for children
  • Helping to coordinate our Youth Board

Do you love working on websites? Do you want a career in some aspect of the web from design to animation? Do you have the imagination to help us find novel solutions for supporting children with high learning potential and their families? A Website Internship may be the right role for you!

We will customise the opportunity around your interests and the time you have available. Our current areas of greatest need include:

  • re-design of the children’s area of our website
  • developing different strands on the children’s area of our website
  • setting up and coordinating a wiki of free activities to go on our website
