Challenges 11 & 12: Rethinking An Everyday Task

Fixperts is to thank for the next challenge in our 50 Challenges for 50 Years Anniversary Challenge Book series. Some of you may remember Fixperts from the workshop they did at our last BIG Family Weekend. It is a creative social campaign and design education programme that connects people through the act of ‘fixing’. Fixperts believes that fixing is a great way to develop problem solving skills – this two-minute story of Edna and her sock horn explains what Fixperts is about.

Challenges 11 & 12: Rethinking An Everyday Task

The first of these challenges involves imagining carrying out an everyday task with restrictions to your hands, trying it out, thinking about solutions and then building a models of your idea, testing it and working to improve it. The next challenge is to work a gadget to carry out another task with the same restriction. Have fun thinking, inventing and building!

Members can download the full 50 Challenges for 50 Years book free of charge (normally £7.50).

A hard copy of the full 50 Challenges for 50 Years is also available for £15.00 (including postage and packaging to UK addresses).

You can track your progress using the Challenge Chart. Once you’ve completed as many challenges as you can, send your chart and the answer to or result of the challenge you enjoyed the most to amazingchildren@potentialplusuk.org and we’ll send you a certificate!
