The next challenge from our 50 Challenges for 50 Years Anniversary Challenge Book comes from Haroon Shirwani of the Eton College Modern Languages Department where he teaches Arabic, French and Spanish. He also runs the Debating Society which has open competitions for novice and intermediate schools level.  Haroon has also authored Building Your Arabic Vocabulary.

Challenge 3 is about Jangli, a made up language

Using a made-up language can exercise your brain and challenge your decoding skills, as you will do in this challenge. There are other benefits of making up or using made-up languages. You can invent words for specific items, keep things secret between you and other users of the language and create a culture for a certain story or game you are playing.

One challenge from the book will be released here every few days. Look out for the next one soon!

Members can download the full 50 Challenges for 50 Years book free of charge (normally £7.50).
